==Overview:==
After Clan Steel Viper was exiled from their Occupation Zone by Clan Jade
Falcon, 'Mech designers began to look at where flaws stood within the touman
(to ensure their embarassing defeat would not happen again). Designers
noticed that the Viper Touman lacked powerful light Omni's to support
Elemental troopers as they deployed. The Fire Moth lacked armor to protect
itself in close quarters, and the Myst Lynx was not fast enough to get the job
done. Designers turned to an old Ghost Bear prototype they had aquired as
isorla for testing, they christened the 'Mech the Switchblade.
==Capabilities:==
The original prototype was designed as an " Battle Taxi" built to be quick
enough to get the armored troopers where they needed to be, durable enough to
take damage, and with reasonable offensive firepower. The original, however,
was saddled to a standard 280 Fusion engine. Viper designers upgraded to a
280 XL. MASC allows this 'Mech to reach top speads of 173 km/h. The legs on
the prototype were large, but for good reason. The legs have extra shock
absorbers and protection to allow the 'Mech to kick down fortifications easier
on the run. This enables to 'Mech to break through enemy positions, deploy
battle armor, and make enemy commanders worry about the rear.
The Prime variant is equipped with a Large Pulse laser and a Medium. Both
lasers are backed up by a shoulder mounted SRM 4. All variants are tied into
an ECM suite to help "mask" the 'Mech, and active probe keeps it from getting
ambushed.
==Variants:==
The A variant carries an ER PPC, backed up by a Streak SRM 6. This is more of
a "hunter-killer." The B mounts an Ultra 5 Class AC backed by a pair of
lasers. The C mounts paired ATM 6's, and the H carries both Heavy Large and
Medium lasers, backed by six machineguns.
==Deployment==
Since the design is relatively knew, it has only been deployed to replace
holes in the Viper Touman. The 'Mech is usually deployed in Nova stars,
because of it has been deemed the "Battle Taxi."
