Dr. Bennette, brilliant engineer and scientist formerly of the NAIS has always been unconventional in his projects and this latest one in no exception. After the willful destruction of the last LAM capable facility during the clan invasion the likelihood of recovering the technology was deemed impossible within reason. Dr. Bennette took exception to this sighting the comment as asinine. Other than a few arguments that degraded into mud slinging between rivals nothing more was heard from Bennette on the subject.

At the recent NAIS symposium the elderly Bennette debuted the striking Blue Angel (LAM variant of the Capellans new Phoenix Hawk) to the astonishment of all. In typical Bennette fashion he answered no questions concerning the process by which he was able to accomplish this.

Flurries of question about how he reinvented the transformation gear and how he obtained the Liao plans for the fairly recently revealed Liao Mech are ignored leaving a vacuum which conjecture, speculation and all out rumor fills. These rumors include but are by no means limited to a Jie Fang operation, deep plant leftovers from the 4th Succession War and spies within the WoB itself. Nothing substantiated and no response from Bennette or his company.

Many who review the footage taken at the test grounds sight that although it seems to operate perfectly since the Dr. won't allow a live fire exercise (and in fact hasn't allowed it to be seen since the event) the conversion gear most likely only works under ideal conditions and isn't really a true LAM.

The latest is a lawsuit of industrial espionage and patent violation on the Stealth system. Bennettes layers are quoted as saying it's merely a modification of Star League technology and not the stealth system Liao fields and therefore not a violation of patent.

Experts find the whole issue odd but the final word is that the Bennette facilities aren't capable of producing the Mech so it's likely this is not the precursor to the reemergence of the LAM, or Stealth technology for Davion.

The 55 ton Mech, sporting the famed colors of the ancient Blue Angeles has the same load out as the Liao 4L except the engine is XL’ed, it has 185 points of armor and an additional heat sink.
