I first wanted to paint either a red or blue flame Fireball. Then I ran out of time, so I settled for a simple dark red scheme with a couple of gold details. I wanted the Fireball to look like it was ruling over something, which is why it stands over a recently torn up Battle Armour. It is not clear in the photo, but the little Battle Armour has some entrails poking out - very gory.
The Fireball was first painted a black undercoat, then a dark brown base coat. A thin layer of dark Gore red was then painted on every panel, leaving the brown in the recessed areas. A lighter shade of red was then used to out-line the panels followed by a final touch of orange on some of the corners.
On such a small figure it is difficult to see, but I used the Non-Metallic Metal "NMM" technique on the two weapons. This is basically using browns and yellows to give you the impression of Gold, rather than using a metallic gold paint. I have just started working with NMM, so it is a bit of a first effort at the style.
